A Mechanical / Professional Engineer by trade, Matt brings over 30 years of experience in the plastics world through varying Engineering, Business Development, and Executive roles at companies such as Plastic Omnium, Saturn, and GE Plastics. Most recently, at MEP America, Inc. (a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics Corporation) and a sister company of Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials, he held positions as the Director of Business Development / Research and Development, Vice President, and Managing Director. While at MEP, Matt provided strategic direction by building intercultural teams, and aligning corporate initiatives with customer goals with frequent communication. It is these achievements, and many more, that make him the perfect embodiment of our Fit for Growth 4.0 strategy.
As the Director of Sales, one of Matt’s primary objectives will be to focus on developing sales strategies, tactics, and action plans that lead to opportunities for profitable growth. In order to do this effectively, he will travel frequently to meet with customers – OEMs, Distributors, and Fabricators – to cultivate new business ventures with key accounts that he identifies as strategic targets for the overall Commercial Strategy. Matt will also be responsible for setting and maintaining the annual Commercial Strategy, and communicating it cross-functionally, on a Global scale.
When asked “Why are you excited about working at Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials?” Matt responded by saying that “The excitement for me stems from my technical roots. I truly enjoy problem solving in any form and, with everything being so new to me here, I feel that I have a huge opportunity in front of me to bring a fresh point of view to the business, to help us achieve exponential growth. All in all, I am really looking forward to helping my new colleagues and customers find the right solutions for their needs as I settle down at Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials.”
Matt, who is based in Michigan with his wife, has two daughters and will be reporting directly to Mr. Bernie Willms. His Direct Reports include Scott Doherty, Derek Rohac, Paul Brust, Mike Oliveto, Jeff Mikitka, Brad Seibt, Wilson Vega, and Ricardo Ehlke. Over the next few weeks, Matt will begin the onboarding process, with his official starting date being June 29, 2020.
